In my dreams, winter weekends should be filled with thermos of hot chocolate, a backpack full of snacks, snow gear in the back of the rig and bodies layered in warm clothing.
This past weekend, we did exactly that! The hubster and I packed up the kiddos and dog, pointed the family truckster towards Mt. Hood and went up to the mountain. The kids enjoyed their first experience walking around on snowshoes.

A good walk in the snow does the spirit good. Snapping pictures of the snowy landscape, even better.
The White River is a glacial fed river that runs off the southeast flank of Mt. Hood. The snow park has a lot of flat space, great for teaching kids the art of snow shoeing, cross country skiing and even a bit of a slope for a little sledding. It's a fun space that can get a little crowded but if you want to escape the throngs of people, slap on those ski's or snow shoes and pack it out a little, the views will be amazing!
Cheers, Jenni
Walking with tennis rackets on your feet must be challenging. I don't want to tempt fate but we don't have enough snow to acquire the skill. Ice shoes would be more useful to us.
ReplyDeleteAs you say a great photo opportunity.
I would love to snow shoe sometime...looks like lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed these pictures of your family having fun in the snow!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Jenni! Wishing you & your family more snowy adventures this winter season! (We were on the same wavelength...we took a quick family trip to enjoy the snow in Yosemite!)
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos, I love the blueness of the snow, and your kids rosy cheeks. It looks like you had a GREAT time.

Great to see you having a good time, after all the stress you had last year! Our opportunities for such outings are limited in the UK, but I'd just love to be able to do what you did. A day out in the rain (with Wellington boots instead of snow-shoes) doesn't sound anything like as attractive!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely photos of our gorgeous Mountain (aren't we so possessive of her :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you guys had a wonderful family time :)
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY :)
Cheers, T. :)
Hi Jennifer, What a wonderful day it must have been. Your kids look so happy.
